CROSS STEPPING THE ART

Cross-stepping highlights style when moving up the board to get your toes on the nose. Not only is cross-stepping an elegant way to control your board but it also helps trim the surfboard. The movement of shifting your weight from one foot to the other keeps the board stable flowing in the right position on the wave.

Cross-stepping a couple of pointers.

  1. Remember the purpose of cross-stepping. The purpose of cross-stepping it to put you, the rider, in the best position on the board to inflict the necessary forces to direct the board. ...
  2. Start Small. ...
  3. Take Smaller Steps. ...
  4. Keep Your Eyes On The Stringer. ...
  5. Step Up Your Cross-Stepping Game by practicing cross-stepping at home or anywhere by following a straight line on the ground (the floorboards, tape, whatever really) which mimics a board's stringer so that you're better prepared when it comes time to surf.

It's easy more practice more results and closer to a hang ten!
